The School of Life explains the architectural significance of Andrea Palladio in five minutes. When I was in architecture school, we had three semesters of architectural history. In my youthful naivety, I wasn’t interested in anything older that the 20th century so consequently my own knowledge of Palladio is woefully lacking.
The quote below comes from Jacques Sbriglio’s excellent book on the Unité d’Habitation in Marseilles by Le Corbusier. Without taking anything away from Palladio’s genius, the coordination headaches Corbu’s team faced 60 years ago and those we deal with today certainly make achieving beautiful architecture much more difficult. We gratefully accept the challenge.
